
Future learners GCSE results will determine which BTEC course they are placed on. Students not achieving a grade 4 in English and/or Maths will have additional lessons and resit the exam in year 12.

Optional units are selected through student choice towards the end of year 12. They are selected based upon the careers students wish to pursue upon leaving BASE. Students can also choose an additional unit(s) if their preference is not selected.

Work Experience
As part of the qualification, learners will complete work experience through their two year programme. Learners will have the opportunity to work with a range of children from 3 years old to 16 in various settings such as primary schools delIvering PE, sport & physical activity, after school clubs and working with our partner clubs. Learners will also have the opportunity to be part of various sporting events.

BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma In Sports Coaching & Development
The Level 3 BTEC qualification offers a variety of units which will inspire learners to explore what they would like to do as a career. We plan a number of visits each year to local Universities, host a number of guest speakers from various areas of sport and football all designed to give learners the great opportunity to plan their future.
Our learners high performance has allowed them to move onto Universities to study physical education, sports therapy, sports development, sports management, sports psychology and psychology leading to careers such as sports therapists, PE teachers, sports coaches, sports broadcasters.

Studying A Level Physical Education gives you a fantastic insight into the amazing world of sports performance.
Not only will you have the chance to perform or coach a sport through the non-exam assessment component, you also develop a wide ranging knowledge into the how and why of physical activity and sport. The combination of physical performance and academic challenge provides an exciting opportunity for students.
Physical Education is studied through a range of different contexts and the impact it has on both our own and others’ everyday lives. You learn the reasons why we do things, why some people outperform others, mentally and physically. You will delve into the ethical considerations behind the use of drugs and also the influence that modern technology is having on physical activity and sport.
Pathways
A Level Physical Education is an excellent base for a university degree in sports science, sports management, physiotherapy, healthcare, or exercise and health.
