Adam Colley is the Education Director at BASE and an FA Coach Developer, with a strong focus on coach education, player development, and long-term learning pathways within football.

Adam brings extensive experience in designing and delivering high-quality lessons/sessions that support students/coaches at all stages of their journey. In his role at BASE, he leads the strategic development of educational frameworks, ensuring best practice, innovation, and consistency across the coaching provision.

As an FA Coach Developer, Adam works closely with coaches to enhance their knowledge, confidence, and impact, placing strong emphasis on reflective practice, effective learning environments, and player-centred coaching. He is highly regarded for his ability to connect theory with real-world application, helping coaches translate learning into meaningful on-pitch outcomes.

Passionate about developing people as much as players, Adam plays a key role in shaping modern coaching standards and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Matt Messer is our Performance Coach at BASE, specialising in athletic development, injury prevention, and performance optimisation across all levels of the game.

With a strong background in physical conditioning and sports performance, Matt designs and delivers evidence-based training programmes that support players’ physical readiness while aligning closely with technical and tactical demands. His work focuses on developing robust, resilient athletes capable of performing consistently throughout the season.

At BASE, Matt plays a key role in integrating physical performance into the wider coaching and development framework, working collaboratively with coaches and support staff to ensure a holistic approach to player development.

Matt’s passion for helping players reach their physical potential underpins his impact, ensuring performance, health, and sustainability remain central to our 16-19 programme.

Ben Williams is a highly regarded coach and football manager, currently serving as First Team Manager of Thame United FC at Step 4 of the English football pyramid.

Ben brings a modern, progressive approach to management, with a strong emphasis on player development, team culture, and competitive performance. Known for his clear communication, he creates environments that challenge players while supporting their growth both on and off the pitch.

His leadership reflects a clear footballing philosophy built on hard work, organisation, and collective responsibility to play exciting attacking football at BASE.
